I Have an IDEA!

Shouldn’t an organization’s DEI include age? There’s no question that living longer, much longer, is an important trend that is not going away. Could there be a better way to manage your aging workforce?

I = inclusion               D = diversity              E = equity             A = age

For the first time in history, we see up to five generations in the same offices at the same time and tensions are mounting.  It can’t be managed by simply “being nice to old folks” and “respecting your elders”.  Companies had better figure this out, because the multi-generational workforce is a reality and the end of retirement as we know it means the successful workplaces of the future will lean toward an older workforce.  It’s simply not avoidable given the demographic truths.  And heck, we all know there is a shortage of workers and an ailing economy.

And while the race is on for organizations to clarify their DEI strategies less than 10% consider age as a factor.  What a missed opportunity!  Age-diverse teams are powerful, productive and profitable.  Many corporate blunders and well-intentioned mis-directions could be avoided if there were a better blend of the energy and ambition of youth with the vision and seasoned experience of age.  Working together this diverse group can create something no generation could do on their own.

At The Experience Group we help organizations re-imagine how they manage their aging workforce, to change the way they “retire” their high value asset professionals, to learn how to capture the experience and knowledge of the wise before they leave the building.  And we have certified Silver Seals ready to be deployed to assist.

We, the 50+ crowd, will either be remembered as history’s largest generation or its’ greatest one – the choice is ours.  The choice is yours.
